What a Full Written Horoscope Report Actually Contains — and When You Need One

A book-length జాతకం is the oldest deliverable in Vedic astrology and the least explained one. Chapter by chapter, what a written horoscope report holds — charts, వర్గ చక్రాలు, దశ tables, strength grids, remedies — which calculation conventions produced its numbers, and when a written record is the right thing to buy instead of a consultation.

The Book a Family Used to Keep

There was a time when a child's జాతకం was written out by hand soon after birth — on paper, or before that on palm leaf — and the family kept it. It was opened at a marriage proposal, before a long journey, when a career decision arrived, and often after the astrologer who wrote it had died. It was a record, and its value was that it stayed put.

Most people now meet their chart in a very different form: a screenshot from an app, a forwarded prediction, a single printed page with a rasi chart on it. Useful for a moment, gone by the next, and impossible to hand to anyone as a document.

A written horoscope report is the modern form of that old book. This article describes what one actually contains, chapter by chapter — and, just as importantly, when a written record is the right thing to buy and when it is not.

The Foundation Chapters

Every edition of our report opens the same way, because everything after it rests on these pages.

Birth details and పంచాంగం at the moment of birth. Name, date, time and place; latitude, longitude and timezone; the ayanamsa used with its value in degrees; and the Julian day. Then the panchang of that moment — vara, tithi, nakshatra with its pada, yoga, karana, and the day's sunrise and sunset. This chapter is the audit trail. Any astrologer, ours or another, can take these numbers and check everything that follows.

Avakahada and Ghata chakra — the traditional identity block a purohit reads first, before any interpretation begins.

Planetary positions. Every గ్రహం with its sign and degree, its dignity, and the houses it lords.

The charts and the భావం table. Your Lagna chart, your Chandra (Moon) chart and the Navamsa (D9), drawn in the chart style you chose, with a full bhava table of the twelve houses.

Every divisional chart at a glance. A reference grid of the వర్గ చక్రాలు from D2 all the way to D120 — the classical shodashavarga plus D5, D6, D8 and D11, and the higher harmonics D72, D81, D108 and D120. That grid is in every edition, including the smallest one.

The Dashas — Where a Report Earns Its Length

The Vimshottari దశ system is the spine of Vedic prediction, and it is also the part of a chart that no screenshot can hold. The report prints the full nine-lord mahadasha cycle with its dates, then every antardasha under every mahadasha, with the currently running period marked. The Complete edition goes one level deeper again — maha → antar → pratyantar — and adds a written chapter for each mahadasha, so the periods of your life are narrated rather than only tabulated.

Laid out on paper, that is hundreds of dated rows covering a life. It is the single strongest argument for owning the book rather than looking things up: you can turn to the year you are actually living in, and to the one after it.

The Strength Layer

From the Standard edition upward the report adds the machinery that decides how much any of the above is worth:

• Shadbala — the six-fold strength of each planet, in rupas, with rankings
• Ashtakavarga — the bhinna tables planet by planet and the sarva grid over the twelve signs
• All sixteen shodashavarga divisional charts, full page in your chosen style, each with its own chapter
• Planet-in-house readings for all nine grahas, and a nakshatra-based personality analysis
• Career, finance, marriage and health chapters
• Gochara — the transit outlook against your current transits

The Complete edition then adds the classical layers a serious book is expected to carry: Jaimini (chara karakas, karakamsa, arudha padas and chara dasha), the Sudarshana chakra, the Varshaphal annual chart for the current year, important transit dates for the next five years, and a full remedies chapter.

Every edition — including the smallest — carries an Executive Summary at the front and a Closing Summary at the end, the yogas and doshas found in the chart, house-wise predictions, and a remedies summary with a gemstone recommendation.

Which Conventions Produced Your Numbers

Here is a question almost nobody asks until two documents disagree: by which rules were these degrees calculated?

Two competent astrologers can compute the same birth and print different figures, entirely legitimately, because Vedic astrology contains real and long-standing choices — which ayanamsa, mean node or true node, seven chara karakas or eight, which of the several published formulae for D11. Most reports and most websites never say which choice was made. When the numbers then differ from another astrologer's, there is nothing to reconcile them against.

Our book prints its conventions, in the birth-details table, next to the ayanamsa they travel with:

• Lahiri / Chitrapaksha ayanamsa via Swiss Ephemeris, with no custom offset and no custom epoch
• Mean Rahu, with Ketu placed exactly 180° opposite
• Seven chara karakas as the primary scheme — and an exact tie between two planets is flagged, not quietly resolved
• D11 named as Rudramsa by the P.V.R. reverse-base method, rather than the generic eleventh harmonic, which is a different chart

None of that is a claim that every lineage follows these rules. It is the opposite claim, and a more useful one: these are the fixed conventions this engine uses, they are never adjusted chart by chart, and they are printed so that you — or any astrologer you show the book to — can see exactly what produced the numbers.

In Telugu, and in Your Chart Style

The report is available as a full Telugu edition — the whole book, not merely translated headings over English prose. For a Telugu-speaking family that wants the document read aloud at home, or kept for a generation that reads Telugu more comfortably than English, that is not a small thing, and it is rare.

The charts are drawn in whichever style you actually read: South Indian, North Indian, or Western wheel. The positions are identical in all three; only the shape changes.

What Happens Before It Reaches You

Two things stand between generation and your inbox, and it is worth being precise about what they are and are not.

First, every generated book runs through an automatic quality gate before it can be rendered as a PDF. It checks the arithmetic against invariants that cannot be argued with: that the dasha chain is continuous and follows the Vimshottari order, that the balance dasha matches the lord of the Moon's nakshatra, that sarvashtakavarga sums to 337 and each planet's bhinna table to its classical total, that house lords match their signs, that no impossible angle or unformatted number reaches the page, and that every chapter advertised in the contents was actually composed. If any hard check fails, the order parks with the reasons recorded and the book is not sent.

Second, no report is emailed until a person at MS Astrology opens it and presses Send.

To be honest about what that does not mean: it is not a claim that every page is hand-written or hand-verified. It means the numbers are machine-checked against rules that a wrong book cannot pass, and that a human release step stands between a generated file and your inbox.

Report or Consultation — They Answer Different Questions

We sell both, and they are not competing versions of the same thing. Confusing them is the most common reason someone buys the wrong one.

A consultation is a judgement. You bring a specific question — a marriage decision, a career move, a stalled matter, a worry about timing — and Mrs. Madhavi Sharma reads the chart against that question, weighs the conflicting indications, and answers back. You can ask a follow-up. Nothing written can do this, because a book cannot know which of your concerns is the urgent one this month. If your sentence begins "should I…" or "what do I do about…", you want a consultation: book a consultation.

A report is a record. It is the whole chart documented properly, once, permanently — every divisional chart, every dasha period with its dates, the strength tables, the yogas and doshas — in a form you keep, re-read in five years, and can hand to any astrologer without re-typing a birth time. If your sentence begins "I want my chart written down properly", or "I want my daughter to have her జాతకం", you want the report.

Most people who take astrology seriously end up with both, and the order is dictated by urgency: if a decision is pressing, consult first; the book is the reference that stays on the shelf afterwards.
